Tencent Unveils AI Suite to Digitize Philanthropy and Boost Transparency
Tencent has launched a suite of AI tools aimed at modernizing China's philanthropy sector, with a focus on transparency and operational efficiency. The initiative replaces risky cash handouts with a secure digital payment system via WeChat Pay, particularly benefiting rural areas.
AI platforms such as 'AI Ask Project' and 'ima' assist non-profits in providing structured information and building internal knowledge bases. Over 800 charity projects have already adopted these tools, distributing nearly $7 million in donations digitally.
This MOVE marks a strategic evolution of Tencent's decade-long digital charity efforts, building on initiatives like 'Public Welfare 2.0' and the massively successful '99 Giving Day' campaign. The company is now leveraging its Hunyuan large language model to further enhance civic engagement in philanthropy.
